Welcome to Zoe Richards Counselling

Providing a confidential, compassionate and safe counselling service for young people and adults online and face to face.

About Me

Hi, I’m Zoe, and welcome to my website. I’m a qualified counsellor based in Bourne, Lincolnshire, passionate about helping people explore who they are and achieve their full potential. I became a counsellor to support others through life’s challenges and to empower them to create their own paths. I believe in treating people the way we’d like to be treated ourselves.

I find it rewarding to walk alongside people dealing with challenges like anxiety and depression, aiming to support and empower them on their journey toward positive mental well-being and growth. I hold a current DBS certificate and insurance, and as a Registered Member of the BACP, I’m committed to working in a safe and ethical way. My experience includes working with local mental health charities in Bourne and Lincolnshire, as well as providing counselling in a GP surgery.

Outside of counseling, I love spending time in nature and exploring new walking trails. I’m passionate about photography, always excited to learn new techniques and discover unique locations.

What I offer

I work with adults and young people (aged 13–17) on a one-to-one basis, offering a warm, confidential, and safe space to share thoughts, feelings, and emotions. I am compassionate, caring, and empathetic, and my approach is to support and empower you to find your own solutions and make positive changes at your own pace. Sessions can be arranged face-to-face or online, and whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, or grief, I’m here to help.

Counselling can help individuals manage stress, anxiety and other emotional challenges such as bullying, grief and loss. Counselling can also help improve communication and interpersonal skills, as well as, building self-esteem and confidence. My goal is to offer young people and adults a safe, confidential space to explore their thoughts and feelings, develop coping strategies, and enhance their overall well-being.

Below are some of the areas that I work with:

Depression

Depression can make it difficult to enjoy life and engage in activities you once loved. I can help you overcome depression and develop a more positive outlook on life. Together we can explore different techniques designed to help you learn practical strategies to manage depression and your overall well-being.

Stress

Stress is a natural part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can have a negative impact on our mental and physical health. I can help you with stress management techniques designed to help you learn practical strategies to manage stress and improve your overall well-being.

Low Self-esteem and Confidence

I can help you develop a healthier sense of self-worth and confidence. I can provide guidance and support to help you identify negative self-talk, develop self-compassion, and improve your relationships with yourself and others.

Grief & Loss

I offer a safe and warm space for you to talk about your loss at your own pace. I offer a listening ear to help lighten the burden and walk with you on your journey navigating grief and loss. There is no right or wrong way to grieve and there is no time limit for grief to be processed. Together we can explore your feelings and thoughts to explore coping strategies and to help you feel more present and find new perspective on life.

Anxiety

If you're struggling with anxiety, I am here to help. Together I can help you learn practical coping strategies to manage your symptoms. I will work with you to develop strategies that meet your unique needs.

My Approach

I provide one-on-one counselling sessions tailored to your unique needs. My person-centred approach ensures that you feel heard and understood in a safe environment. Together, we will explore your thoughts and feelings, helping you to gain insight and clarity on your life’s challenges. Each session is designed to empower you on your journey towards mental wellness.

I work in a person-centred way but use different approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help support you with your counselling journey.  I believe that by addressing the whole person, we can work together to uncover the root causes of your concerns and put together a plan for your mental health journey.

As a counsellor, I lean on three core conditions in my work. Empathy lets me step into the emotional shoes of others, helping me truly understand their perspectives and feelings. Unconditional Positive Regard creates a safe space where clients can share their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment or rejection. Congruence allows clients to feel genuinely heard and understood, building a stronger therapeutic connection.
